Can you believe I didn't take a picture?
My cousin Terra came for a visit today. She and her husband (Winston) are currently living in Grand Forks. Hows that for small world. When we were little she lived around the corner from me. Then they moved to Sunny California and our visits have been few and far between. Very far between. Now she's around the corner again. OK...it's a 2 hour corner, but it's the closest family I've got.
Anyway, we've emailed a few times and tried to get a visit planned, but it's just never worked out, until now. She e-mailed earlier in the week to say that they were going to be in Bismarck and could they stop by on their way home. Could they? Heck yeah! I was so excited! The girls were excited too. It's so weird for kids to picture their parents having a life before them. They love the excitement of piecing the "mysterious child mommy" together with the me I am to them. We visited and laughed about old times. Like my dad telling her that her parents named her Terra because she was so terrible...or when she used to pretend she was sick so that she could get out of church. Then when the rest of the family left for church, she'd come over and play. It seems so long ago, and yet only yesterday. Funny how time and memories play tricks on us. I think the last time I saw Terra was at her brother Brandon's wedding nearly 10 years ago.
Oh, and did I mention she's gorgeous? Total knock out! And not just on the inside, her outsides are Hot too! :) Winston is a lucky man. It's crazy to picture my cute little blond cousin as this beautiful woman. We are getting old!
Now for my confession. I'm a terrible host! I was so excited to see her that I didn't even offer them a drink for the whole 2 hours they were here! What! I'm such a jerk. After they left I thought about it and couldn't believe myself! Terra, you will have to come visit again and I promise to use my good manners. I'm sure my mom is mortified at my lack of hospitality...but really, I just got caught up in the excitement. Sorry. I also forgot to take a picture. I was thinking that Grandma would probably love to see a picture of the two of us. Next time Grandma. I promise.
Now lets not end a post without at least one note about the beautiful North Dakota weather. This is actually a positive. We had a 75 degree temperature change since Thursday. That's right. Thursday it was 45 degree's below 0 and today it was 30! Can you believe it! 30 whole degree's! Can you believe that I think 30 degrees is something to celebrate?

Rednecks
The day started with lots of shoveling and blowing snow.
This is our back deck. Not sure why we're clearing it. Our back door has been frozen shut for weeks.
This afternoon Ryan and Mark began clearing our roof.
They decided shovels were over-rated, and opted for a snow blower.
But they had to call in reinforcements to make it to the roof.
Looks like the Red Neck way is much easier!
Last...a picture of my house from across the street. Snow! Snow! Snow!
Only 3.5 more months of winter.

Happy New Year
Unfortunately...I didn't remember to take pictures. Only two. When Les made it snow .
and banging pots and pans at midnight.
We had a good time. Mark, Faye and Carmen, Les and Joyce, Tina and Korbin, Anna, Wade, Bailey, Amber and Logan came over for a game night. We ate chili and played games till 2009.
So...2009. Kinda weird to think about. Remember when everyone was freaking out about Y2K? I remember going to bed that night about 10:00, pregnant with Rylee, and telling Ryan to wake me up if the world was ending. Funny how people can get themselves so worked up. I've been thinking about New Years Resolutions today. Mostly because I was at work and we were getting the usual calls and questions about memberships. You can't believe how busy the gym gets for about 6 weeks after the New Year. I've decided I don't like New Years Resolutions. Their a lot like rules. Too easy to break. I'd rather live one day at a time, always trying to improve the little things, because eventually, they add up. Oh, don't get me wrong. I'd love to loose 10 pounds, or get more organized, or quit procrastinating, but really, is making a resolution gonna get me there. No...just plugging away at life, one day at a time. I like to look back at all the little decisions I've made in my life and how they weave together to form this amazing existence. All the mistakes, all the good choices, all the good luck and divine intervention. Really, think back. One little choice made differently would have changed your entire life. What if I hadn't switched schools Junior year of high school. I wouldn't have met Ryan. What if I hadn't gone out with him? What if I'd given Brooklyn up for adoption...or worse? What if Ryan hadn't taken Andrew to Petco looking for a job, or what if I hadn't told my future boss at ARUP that I was pregnant in my interview? What if Ryan had turned down the job with ALCO? If we hadn't moved when we did, I'm not sure we still be married. Those are just a few of the big decisions. But think about all the little one's we make every day. They truly impact the big picture. Well, I don't know what's got into me, but clearly I need some hot cocoa and a hot bath. :) By the way, is it every gonna stop snowing?
