I Moustache You A Question...

But I'll Shave It For Later
Took the Wrestling Cheerleaders to Rapid City for State Wrestling last weekend. 4 days, 3 nights on the road with me as their only adult. Exhausting!
What a bunch! Needless to say, we got a bit carried away with the moustaches.
Thought I'd share a few of the highlights.
Whitney ~ The Junior. She is the eldest of all my girls and so very mature! LOL. No really, you can see a huge maturity difference in Whitney vs. the other girls. She no longer needs other people's approval to be herself. I love this girl and her confidence and quirkiness.
Whitney, Siri and I. Siri is our foreign exchange student from Denmark. She turned 16 while in Rapid with us and we did our best to make it a "Sweet 16". Siri's strength is amazing. She is so far from home and struggles to fit in. She has an enormous heart and killer sense of humor. We will miss her terribly next year.
Front Row: Shawna and Kayleigh. Both sophmores. Both beautiful and sweet. Until you listen to a play-list on their iPod. Who knew such cute girls could listen to such raunchy thug music. Gotta love 'em.
The whole group. Including their very mature and responsible coach...me. :) While walking through the mall in our moustache's, a local boy asked the girls if their coach was upset with them for wearing the goofy moustache. Shawna's answer "No! She bought them for us!"  Ha Ha! Gotta have some fun.
Here the girls are ready to sport their 'stache's at the Civic Center before the final round of wrestle backs on Friday. Coach Novotny (wrestling coach) pretended not to recognize them. Other teams wanted a picture with them. Teddy Lopez (Mobridge Wrestler) told them they could wear the Mobridge uniform or the 'stache's, but not both. Too funny.

My sweet little Freshmen, Brandi and Alexis. These girls have amazing potential. For being the youngest on our team they show so much poise and responsibility. These two are leaders in the making.

Shawna and her enormous order of food. For such skinny little girls, they sure can put it away.

Eating at Texas Road House and all Whitney wanted was bacon. Girl loves her swine.
This pic is a little scary. Alexis looks crazy, Brandi looks like she's about to cry and I'm not sure what Siri is doing with that knife.
All the girls at Siri's Birthday Dinner.
The girls gave Siri this framed team picture with a special note from each of them.
When she went to breakfast we snuck into her hotel room and decorated.

I had such a good time with my girls, but was Oh So Happy to get home and have a break from teenage drama and thug music. Ha Ha. Can't wait for our next trip.

Cheerleaders

The season is almost over. State Wrestling this weekend and 2 more weeks of basketball.

Before I head into the stress of tryouts for next season,

Just thought I'd take a second to reflect on how amazing and beautiful this year's crop of girls are.

They are able to be downright silly, no matter what anyone thinks

Or get out on the floor and wow the crow with their talent.

They have no problem being "nerds" and it shows as we've had nobody have to be benched for grades this year. :)

They are creative and artistic and have made our school Shine with Spirit and Pride.
We've had many early mornings and late nights on the road in support of our teams. And these girls do it with a grin. All day long.

They have learned that there is no "I" in teamwork and have decided against being "each man for himself:" and have pulled together to support each other and be life long friends.

It took a while, but they finally agree with me that "The most important thing you can wear is your smile."

I can't even begin to tell you how much I love these girls.
They make me proud, every day.

Little Eyes Upon You

There are little eyes upon you
and they're watching night and day,
There are little ears that quickly
take in every word you say.
There are little hands all eager
to do anything you do;
And a little girl who's dreaming
of the day she'll be like you.
You're the little girl's idol,
you're the wisest of the wise.
In her little mind about you
no suspicions ever rise.
She believes in you devoutly,
holds all that you say and do;
She will say and do, in your way,
when she grows up like you.
There's a wide eyed little girl
who believes you're always right;
And her eyes are always opened,
and she watches day and night.
You are setting an example
every day in all you do,
For the little girl who's waiting
to grow up to be like you.

The future? The 2011-2012 MPHS Cheerleaders have certainly set a high standard. They are absolutely worthy of these little eyes that are watching.

Parent Teacher Conf.

Last week was Parent Teacher Conferences. Was a very simple year. Both girls in the same middle school made for mostly all the same teachers. Next year will be a different story.
Anyway, as usual, things went very well. I knew their grades were wonderful because I keep track online, but it's always so nice to hear that you child is respectful to teachers and other students. That a teacher overheard you child sticking up for someone that was being picked on. Those things impress me so much more than good grades.
The best part was when Brooklyn's math teacher told me she was so neat and organized.
Ba Ha Ha Ha! I literally laughed out loud.
Why?
Well, here's a picture of her bedroom.
She must use up all her organizational skills at school.
Actually, she cleaned her room just the other day, so this isn't too bad. :)

Wow

You know it's been at least 18 months since your last post when you don't even recognize your own kids in the pictures. Really? Where does the time go?
Oh wait. I think I know where it goes.
It goes to school, work, dance camp, dance practice, volleyball, basketball, church, cheerleading, summer vacations, homework, grocery shopping, laundry, more homework, house cleaning, more laundry, golf, track meets, Dr. appointments... well, I think you get the picture.
So yes, at times it feels like our life is a little too full. But really, it's so full of so many amazing things and amazing people that it makes it hard to complain. Well, I could do without the laundry. :)
So, rather than bore you with the details of the last 18 months, I'll just catch you up and share a few pictures. If for no other reason than I want to be able to recognize the kids in my post.
We'll start here, with the Valentine Card I never sent. Oops!
Meet Rylee Jay Bird. My funny little 6th grader. In the last year she has graduated from Elementary School joined the Middle School Volleyball, Basketball and Track Teams, continued dancing, and has begun wowing us, and all who know her, with her amazing photography. She is neat and organized and hilarious. Her sense of humor can be a little mean, but Oh So Funny!
She's on the honor roll and has way too many best friends.
Our little Brookie Cookie has become a woman. No more cute little girl with big green eyes. I mean, she's still cute and still has enchanting eyes, but in a much more womanly way. It's disgusting. Especially since men and boys take notice all too often. She once again played Basketball and became quite the amazing Volleyball player. She still loves dance and golf, Student Council and reading. A few weeks ago she got her drivers license. Scary! Her BFF's (Lacy and Kennedy) spend a great deal of time at our house, eating our food and hanging out with Ryan and I. They're good kids. We'll keep 'em.
Ryan and I spend most of our time keeping track of our beautiful girls. You know, fighting off the boys and doing their laundry. (That word keeps creeping in to this post. Maybe it's because there is a mountainous pile of it in my laundry room.) We love watching all their games and laughing with their silly friends.
So there you have it.
Someday soon I promise to share a few of the highlights of the last year. There were some good ones!
